1. SHO SHAUN HERGATT RESTAURANT AT THE SETAI, FINANCIAL DISTRICT
Inside the restaurant at Sho Shaun Hergatt, William Channing waits for Walter Malone to arrive for their lunch meeting. William has already ordered a glass of wine as he finishes up some last minute business of the day on his iPad. Shortly, Walter enters the restaurant quite flustered.
Walter: Sorry to keep you waiting. Traffic today has been insane.
William: No worries. I haven't been here too long.
Walter removes his jacket and places it on the back of his chair. The waiter arrives noticing Walter's arrival.
Waiter: May I get you something to drink sir?
Walter: I'll just have a Jack Daniels on the rocks.
The waiter nods to Walter and walks off.
William: So, how is everything going with the campaign?
Walter: Great, so far. Though I'm sure you're asking because you've heard of Daniel Evans' latest bouts of trickery.
William: You got me. Listen, I know you're all about trying to run an honest campaign here-
Walter: I know where you're going with this and I'm just going to tell you the same thing I've told everyone else. Just because he's chosen to play dirty doesn't mean that I'm going to stoop to his level. It's just not going to happen. If I can't win this by being honest and fair then I don't want it.
William: I understand all that but I'm just saying that it might be worth it in the end. Do you really want Daniel Evans to win? I sure as hell don't! But if you don't start playing him at his own game then he will be. It won’t be just you losing, it’ll be the state of New York.
2. THE EVANS' APARTMENT, UPPER EAST SIDE
Victoria Ferguson Evans is about to head out to the balcony when the doorbell rings. With a tad bit of annoyance she walks over to answer the door. She opens the door to reveal her brother, Brock Ferguson.
Victoria: Brock, what are you doing here?
Brock: Well isn't that a great way to greet your brother. Perhaps a hello or come in might do nicely.
Victoria: I'm sorry, please, come in.
She lets Brock in, closing the door after him.
Victoria: I didn't it mean that the way it came out. But, how on earth did you know that we were here?
Victoria and her husband Daniel Evans own this apartment for just when they need to be in the city. Their main residence is in the Hamptons where they reside most of the year.
Brock: Well when I turned on the news this morning I saw a wonderful little story about your husband.
Victoria: Of course. I should have known that would have made the rounds by now.
Brock: I see Daniel is causing trouble again. Isn't he a bit worried about how this makes him look in the eye of the public? Afterall, it's their votes that he's hoping to gain.
Victoria: You know darnn well there's nothing you can tell Daniel. If there's something that he wants to do he does it. I've stopped trying to tell him what to do.
Brock: Don’t we know.
Victoria: Excuse me?
Brock: Come on Victoria. It's time you stopped hiding in his shadow and start doing what you've always set out to do. You had such high hopes for a career and to have a family. You sacrificed the family and if you don’t mind me saying so it’s a little too late for that now anyways. Do you really want to give up your chance to have a career too?
Victoria: You are completely out of line.
Brock: Why, because I'm the only person that'll tell you the truth? You keep this up Victoria and you're going to end up a very sad and lonely woman. You know the only thing Daniel is married to is his career. You're just a prop. I don't want to see that happen to you but I fear it will.
Victoria: Well I am sorry that my life is such a concern for you. But trust me it need not be. I am very capable of taking care of myself and knowing what’s best for me. I don’t need you evaluating my life choices for me. I don’t see where you get off judging my life, unless you're trying to escape the mess of a life that you've created for yourself.
Silence ensues between the two of them, neither knowing what to say next. Through the years they have known exactly what buttons to push with each other. Brock and Victoria have always had respect and love for each other. Only wanting to see the best happen for each other.
Victoria: I'm sorry. I didn't mean that.
Brock: Of course you did. We both did.
Victoria: Fine. But you have to back off, seriously. I know what I'm doing. You don't know everything that you think you do.
Brock: Really? Do tell.
Victoria: (laughs) You're too much. Now if you're done scolding me, I really must get ready.
Brock: Where are you headed off to?
Victoria: I'm meeting some friends in Chelsea for lunch and if I don't leave now I'm going to be late.
Brock doesn't quite buy exactly what Victoria is saying but he'll accept it, for now.
Brock: Alright, I know when I've extended my stay. But please, for me, just think about what I said.
Brock gives one last look reminding her how serious he is regardless of how much she wants to brush it off. He knows deep down inside that what he's said is true and that she knows it. Brock gives Victoria a kiss on the cheek and escorts himself out.

3. CENTRAL PARK
Mason Channing, the youngest of the Channing clan, and Kendall Malone, his girlfriend, are seated on a park bench. Kendall is an aspiring model and has been dating Mason for almost a year now. Mason and Kendall have met up at Central Park in between Kendall's go-sees. Over a course of an hour they've been having lunch in the park that Mason brought with him.
Mason: So, where are you headed to next?
Kendall: My agent has me going in for this new designer. She thinks it's important for me not only to be going out for some of the bigger designers but also some of the up and coming. To her it'd be best for me to hook up with some hot newcomer and kind of become their go to girl.
Mason: And what do you think?
Kendall: To be honest, I really don't know anymore. I mean I'm not complaining, business has been good to me so far. But I haven't really had that big break yet. I know it takes time but I'm just getting antsy.
Mason: Well I'm sure something big will happen for you really soon. I know that when you set your mind to something that you don't stop until it happens.
Kendall: You're just saying that. But it's sweet. Who knows? It's just hard seeing most of my friends start to really make it big and you're still there struggling behind.
Kyle Channing, Mason's brother, from across the street spots Mason and Kendall in the park. For a few minutes he just watches their conversation from a distance observing their body language.
Kendall: How's your family?
Mason: Same as always. Dad is busy with work and mother is immersed in her everyday social life. Exciting, isn't it?
Kendall: I'd take your family any day. Mine as of late has just been a circus. Ever seen my father announced he was running for senate our family has been in the public eye more than ever. I mean we've always have been somewhat in the public eye but now it's just insane. You're about the only thing now that keeps me grounded.
Kyle: Well look at the two little lovebirds.
Mason and Kendall look up to see Kyle overhead.
Kyle: Having a little afternoon lunch in the park are we?
Kendall: Hello Kyle.
Mason: Kendall's in between go-sees so I thought I'd bring her some lunch.
Kyle: How sweet.
Kendall: (looks her watch for the time) I better get going. I'm suppose to be there in a half hour. I'll see you later?
Mason: Of course.
Kendall and Mason kiss. Kyle turns away, looking at traffic to escape watching the exchange. Kendall nods to Kyle as she walks off to hail a cab.
Kyle: Slumming it in the park are we?
Mason: What are you doing here Kyle?
Kyle: Heading off to meet a potential client. Unlike you younger brother I'm always on the clock. I understand the importance of Channing Industries.
Mason: Well sorry if some of us don't want to be consumed with that company like every other Channing family member. I prefer to have a life.
Kyle: A life? Is that what you call this fling with... what's her name? Kendall?
Mason: You know damn well what her name is Kyle. Is there something I can help you with?
Kyle: Why are you wasting your time with this little wannabe model when you can be dating some of the cream of the crop? It just boggles my mind.
Mason: Some of us don't care for the careless relationships that you've found yourself in. Relationships aren't business deals.
Kyle: Oh brother, how wrong you are. Everything is about business and the sooner you accept that, the better off you'll be. Mason, I'm not trying to be the bad guy here or be hard on you. But there comes responsibility with being a Channing. I was just like you when I was younger. I fell for the girl next door and thought I was in love.
Mason: Kendall's not exactly the girl next door.
Kyle: Whatever.
Mason: Her father could potentially be the next senator of New York.
Kyle: Keyword potentially.
Mason: Besides, I'm not interested in what you have to say about my relationship, or anyone else for that matter. I'll live my life and you go live yours. Or what's left of it.
Kyle is slightly thrown off by Mason defending Kendall so strongly. It's the first time that Mason has really stood up to him before. It partly makes him excited to have something to work with. Mason picks up the remainder of the lunch and walks off from Kyle.

4. CITY OF NY EXEC OFFICES, 280 BROADWAY
Daniel Evans exits an office room after taking up a meeting with the Mayor of New York City. Immediately Lauren Roberts, his assistant, and Carter Stevens are there to meet him. They walk side by side heading to the elevator. Not a word is spoken between the three of them. They approach the elevator waiting for it to arrive. After a few seconds the doors open and the three of them enter an empty elevator. Lauren presses the button for the lobby and the doors shut.
Carter: So, what did the Mayor have to say?
Daniel: He's onboard. I think he understands now why he would benefit having me on his side rather than Walter. It didn't take much once I laid out all my cards.
Carter: You're sure now?
Daniel: Never been more sure of anything in my life. It's a done deal. Walter Malone is finished in this race.
Lauren: Well I've been keeping track of the latest pollings after this morning's press conference and your defaming Walter Malone in the press seems to actually have had a positive affect. It appears that the public likes that you have a spine and are willing to speak out your mind. They seem more turned off on the fact that Walter has been so silent this whole campaign. They are more afraid of having a senator who they know nothing about.
The elevator doors open again as they reach the lobby. Silence again ensues as they step out of the elevator. They walk as a unit outside of the building heading towards Daniel's private car. All three step inside of the car as it takes off onto the streets of Manhattan.
Carter: Why do you think he has been so quiet? You don't think he's just holding onto some card and is waiting for the right moment to use it?
Daniel: Are you suggesting that there's something that I'm hiding or should be worried about coming out?
Carter: I'm just asking. It just seems very odd. To say nothing at all?
Daniel: Well I can't speak for Walter but if I were him I'd probably be realizing that he has no shot of winning this. To me he's accepted his fate and that's why he's been so absent.
Carter: But if he truly feels that way then why not drop out?
Daniel: Enough! What is this? I will not be questioned by my own staff. It's plain and simple. This race is finished! It doesn't matter how or why. Now if you want to keep your job and cross the finish line with me then I'd suggest you end this.
Lauren is quite taken aback by the happenings in the car and remains silent. Daniel looks at Carter, checking in with him to make sure that he's made his point very clear.
5. JFK AIRPORT
Like every day JFK is a swarm of people and luggage everywhere. The sounds of excitement and laughter from those arriving from various places to explore New York mixes with joyous talk of those who have enjoyed their stay. A woman exits gate A17 having just landed. She's Olivia DeWitt, a gorgeous woman and upon one look you can tell she's into the finer things in life. She checks her watch for the time. It's not exactly 3pm just yet. She takes the remaining minute she has to take out her compact and fix her lipstick. It's red. After applying the finishing touches she checks her watch again. It's indeed now 3pm. She quickly calls a number from her speed dial on her phone. It rings only once and is immediately picked up.
Olivia: I've arrived.
6. SHO SHAUN HERGATT RESTAURANT AT THE SETAI, FINANCIAL DISTRICT
Walter: How's business going at Channing Industries?
William: Going well. I can't complain. Kyle has really stepped up to the plate. He shows great promise. I only wish my other son Mason would as well.
Walter: What's wrong with Mason?
William: He just doesn't seem as interested. But I'm hoping it's just a phase. Hopefully in time he'll appreciate what he has going for him.
Walter: You don't suppose my daughter Kendall has been proving to be too much of a distraction for him, do you?
William looks up at Walter not wanting to say anything but Walter knows just what William wants to say.
Walter: I see.
Willam: Walter, you know I mean no trouble. It's just business.
Walter: Isn't it always with you?
William: I beg your pardon.
Walter: Come on William. Could it possibly be that Mason is actually happy and doesn't need to be some powerful business tycoon to make him happy like you and Kyle? Could it actually be possible that he isn’t fueled by greed, money, and power?
William: You are way out of line.
Walter: Am I now? You can give me advice about my career and life but I can't possibly do the same?
William: This is completely different. You are talking about my kid.
Walter: And mine as well. There’s no difference here. I just don't understand why you're so determined to destroy something that is obviously working rather well between Mason and Kendall. Why do you seek to destroy it? And don’t say you’re not because I know you are. I’ve known for quite some time but have wanted to just stay out of it and let things play out as they may. But I’m not going to stand for you bullying them. They are happy and I'll be damn if I'm going to take that away from them.
William: See Walter this is your problem. You possess a spine. And with one you'll never become the politician that Daniel Evans can be. So while you're out being all noble, he's going to become the next Senator of New York. And who will you be?
William gathers up his belongings into his briefcase, throws down cash for the bill and escorts himself out of the restaurant.

7. 756 W. 181ST, WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, THE HERRERA APARTMENT
Carla is seated in the kitchen having some tea when her daughter Paloma enters. Paloma is a gorgeous young girl who gets her great looks from her mother but her soul and spirit is very much like her father. Carla has been raising her daughter Paloma and son Victor by herself since the disaster of 9/11. Her husband, Lupe, was one of many that were tragically lost that day. It’s taken the family a long time to rebuild but through good faith they have managed. Paloma is rushing through getting things she needs without even acknowledging her mother.
Carla: Excuse me young lady. And where are you off to?
Paloma: Just meeting up with some friends. My alarm didn’t go off this morning so I’m late.
Carla: I’m sure your friends will be just fine if you sat and talked to your mother for a second.
Paloma: Mama please. Call Victor. I’m sure he’ll gladly spend hours talking with you.
Carla: Hours? I’m not talking hours, I’m talking one minute. Besides I’ve already talked to your brother Victor this morning. How are the college applications coming along?
Paloma: Really? You want to talk about that now?
Carla: Well someone has to talk about it with you. You’ve been putting it off. You have to get serious with this before time runs out. You’re bright young girl and I want you to have everything that life has to offer you.
Paloma: I’m on it. I just have a few more things to fill out and they’ll all be ready to mail out first thing next week.
Carla walks over to Paloma and gives a hug that makes Paloma slightly uncomfortable.
Paloma: What are you doing?
Carla: I don’t understand how you grew up so fast. I remember when you just a little girl and Victor was your age. Now look at you both. Victor is long gone and you’re next to leave the nest.
Paloma: Well surely you’d love to have some privacy around here for once. Mama, I really must go.
Carla gives Paloma a kiss on the forehead and nods. Paloma smiles back and leaves.
8. THE CONTINENTAL APARTMENT BUILDING, 885 6TH AVE., KENDALL'S APARTMENT
Kendall has relaxed after her last go-see. Feeling not so confident about it she pours herself a glass of wine to bring another day to a close. She takes one sip of the glass and places it on the counter. Kendall walks to the bathroom and runs the bathwater. Just as she turns the water on, the doorbell rings. She heads to answer the door. When she opens the door, to her surprise it's Kyle.
Kendall: Kyle? What brings you here?
Kyle: May I come in?
Kendall is quite confused as to why Kyle would be showing up at her apartment unannounced but she lets him in regardless. Kendall and Kyle have never been known to get very close through the past year. Very few words had ever been exchanged between the two of them. Kyle sees the glass of wine siting on the counter and takes it upon himself to take a sip which makes Kendall uncomfortable.
Kendall: Does Mason know you're here?
Kyle: That he doesn't. And we’re going to keep it that way. Got it?
Kendall: What is it that you want Kyle?
Kyle: Kendall, if there's one thing you should know, it's that I love my brother very much and I will always look out for his best interests.
Kendall: His best interests or yours?
Kyle: Both. When I see that he's making a big mistake it's then my responsibility to fix it or help him go in another direction and if he refuses then it's my job to take over.
Kendall: I don't understand where you're going with this.
Kyle: I know. Let me be a little bit clearer with you. You're going to stop seeing my brother as of this moment. You're not to have anymore contact with him or my family ever again.
Kendall: Excuse me? Who the hell do you think you are? I'm calling Mason.
Kendall reaches for her purse to retrieve her phone but Kyle gets to it first and throws it across the room.
Kyle: I wouldn't do that. I don't think that would be very wise, do you?
Kyle looks at Kendall to see if he's struck a nerve at all but she doesn't flinch a bit.
Kendall: I don't know what you're trying to get at.
Kyle: Oh really? Maybe this will refresh your memory then.
Kyle hands over a couple of photos to Kendall. In the photos it's Kendall in very provocative situations with a male client/designer. She is completely shocked and horrified as she glances over each photo. She quickly rips each photo into pieces.
Kyle: Don't worry, those are just copies. While you're out whoring yourself out to all of New York, my little brother is sitting there thinking he's found true love.
Kendall: Don't do this.
Kyle: Don't do what? I didn't do anything. You may love my brother but you're just like the rest of us. You care more about yourself and your career that you're willing to let any man with power have his way with you. I on one hand commend you for going after what you want. That’s what I’m all about and thrive on. But my brother doesn't deserve seconds…. Or thirds…or fourths.
Kendall: It only happened once!
Kyle: Boo-hoo!
Kendall: I didn’t sleep with him!
Kyle: Save it for someone who cares!
Kendalls' cries don't even register to Kyle. He looks her up and down just sobbing.
Kyle: So here's where we go from here. You're going to figure out some clever reason to break up with Mason. I want you to break his heart so he'll never think of you or utter your name ever again. And don't even think about outing me or I swear this will just be the beginning. (starts to head for the door) You might want to check your bath water. We wouldn't want it to overflow.
Kyle glances back again and then leaves.
9. THE EVANS' APARTMENT, UPPER EAST SIDE
Daniel enters the apartment. He places his briefcase on the couch on the table at the entrance. Walking into the living area, he looks around for Victoria.
Daniel: Victoria?
He continues walking up the stairs to the bedroom and still not finding any sign of her.
Daniel: Where the hell are you?

10. WALDORF HOTEL
James Channing, William's younger brother, is seated at a desk in his hotel room going through some emails on his computer. James grew up in New York with his brother and family but left about five years ago for California. He still remains a partner at Channing Industries but continues his business out of state, occasionally coming into town every now and then. There's a knock at the door. James shuts his computer to answer the door. He looks out of the peephole to see who it is and opens the door.
James: I'm glad you came, come on in.
James lets his guest in, looking around the hallway first before closing the door.
11. WALDORF HOTEL
Meanwhile in a completely different room at the Waldorf Hotel, Olivia DeWitt has checked herself into the hotel. A bellboy has brought along all of her luggage. She tips the gentleman on his way out. She walks over to the window that overlooks the great view of the city. Memories of her past come flooding back as she looks up and down the streets of New York, some painful and some pure joy. She sees a life she once lived that was stripped away from her so abruptly. She removes herself from the window trying not to let her emotions get the best of her. Olivia sorts through some of her luggage to find a dress bag. She places it on the bed and starts undoing the zipper revealing a wedding dress. The wedding dress is pure white and looks in perfect condition. She takes the dress over to the mirror and holds it up to her. The memories that this dress hold flash back to her. Memories of a happier time. Her smile is radiant and beaming as she takes in each memory.
Olivia: I'm getting married.
She continues smiling brightly as the fabric caresses his body and skin. No longer is she seeing memories from her past but sees the future, atleast the future she has planned.
