1. CHANNING INDUSTRIES, WILLIAM’S OFFICE
Olivia: I almost feel sorry for you as well William.
William: Me? Why?
Olivia: You were just too busy being blinded by your own greed that you couldn’t even see that there was someone else more money hungry than you.
William: Who?
Olivia directs her attention at Rebecca which directs everyone there. Rebecca glares at Olivia.
Olivia: Your wife isn’t as innocent as she portrays herself. I never thought I’d ever say this but perhaps there is someone with more greed besides a Channing man.
James: Maybe this isn’t the best time for this.
Olivia: This is the perfect time for this. And James, you don’t get off so easy either. I’ve been waiting for this very moment for quite some time now. You all used and abused me for your own selfish gains. You could have cared less about me.
Olivia turns her attention to William, her ex-husband. Still with everything that she knows she can’t shake that she did once love William. There’s still a little bit of her that does. She wonders if William could still love her.
Olivia: I loved you. I really did. Was there ever even a moment where you did? Or were you just using me from the beginning for my father’s money? I mean that’s what you all wanted. It was all for the money. You all were so hungry for it that it was worth destroying two lives!
James: Two?
Olivia: Yes two. Did you forget James? The other life that this scheme of yours includes? This isn’t just about me. It’s about the innocent life that you all toyed with and took away.
Olivia: I almost feel sorry for you as well William.
William: Me? Why?
Olivia: You were just too busy being blinded by your own greed that you couldn’t even see that there was someone else more money hungry than you.
William: Who?

2. COFFEE SHOP IN THE VILLAGE
Mason is sitting at a table in the shop having a cup of coffee. His phone starts to ring again and he sees that it’s Kendall. He’s been ignoring all of her calls and texts while he tries to figure out what to do. He hits silent. Sarah returns to check up on Mason.
Sarah: You doing alright over there? You look like you’re a million miles away again.
Mason: Oh, yeah. I’m fine. Just still have a lot on my mind. Seems to be one of those weeks where nothing is going right.
Sarah: Seems like that’s going around a lot these days. I’m hoping today that will finally all change.
Mason: Oh yeah? How so?
Sarah: I have this audition today that I’m hoping goes really well.
Mason: Audition? So you’re actress?
Sarah: Yeah.
Mason: Television? Film?
Sarah: Musical theatre actually. It’s for this off-broadway show that’s coming up this fall.
Mason: Nice. Well I’m sure you’ll be great.
Sarah: Let’s hope. It’d be great to finally land something big in this city. Feel like I’ve been at it forever.
Mason: Well I’m sure it’ll happen. Just takes time. This city is filled with countless talented people with limited jobs. But something about you tells me that you have what it takes.
Sarah: How would you know?
Mason: I don’t know. Just something I sense. Well you’re beautiful and have a great smile. That’s a start right. Must get you in the front door?
Mason and Sarah share a laugh with each other. It’s the first normal conversation Mason has had it seems these days. He notices how his stress has slowly gone away for a brief moment.
Sarah: I wish it were only that easy. But thanks. You sure there’s nothing else I can get you?
Mason: I’m all set.
Sarah: Well I’m actually finished my shift here. Nikki will help you if you need anything.
Mason: Great. Nice meeting you.
Sarah: Nice meeting you.
Mason: Is it alright for me to say break a leg?
Sarah: I think that’s fine. Thanks.
Sarah and Mason share a mutual departing smile as she heads out.
3. WALTER’S OFFICE
Walter has found everyone craving his attention this morning after the news of Daniel breaking out. He has been toying with his staff on how exactly to go forward from this. To acknowledge it? To use it to their advantage? Or to keep going about business as usual. It has been his primary goal up to this point to try to play a fair game. To keep things honest and not get mixed up in any mess. There’s a knock at the door.
Walter: Come in.
The door opens and it’s the last person Walter would expect to come walking through the door. Daniel. Daniel closes the door behind him just before seeing Walter’s shocked face. What would bring Daniel here? What could he possibly have to say to him? Shouldn’t he be out doing damage control?
Walter: Daniel? This is a surprise. What can I do for you?
Daniel: You must be on cloud nine now.
Walter: What do you mean?
Daniel: Oh don’t bullshit me Malone. You know what’s going on. There’s a media circus going on with me right now.
Walter: I have heard.
Daniel: Surely you must be full of joy that this could help your campaign. I would.
Walter: I suppose that’s the difference between us.
Daniel: Is that really your angle with this? To show the difference between us? You’re no different. At the pit of your heart I know you’re just like me. Isn’t that how this all came about?
Walter: I don’t think I follow.
Daniel: You set me up. Maybe not you exactly but someone on your team did.
Walter: You think I had something to do with leaking this story out?
Daniel: Of course you did. Who else? I’m sure you probably didn’t lift a finger because that would ruin your overall image. But you certainly gave the okay.
Walter: Daniel you listen to me and you listen to me good. I had nothing to do with this and no one on my team did either. I don’t need to resort to blackmail or putting out stories to win this election. And if I lose because I didn’t then so be it. I’d rather be able to sleep at night. Besides, I’m sure a man of your nature has far worse enemies. I’m sure there are numerous people that would love to see you fail. Before you start pointing your finger at me I’d suggest you take a long list of that roster of people that you’ve pissed off in your years. Unfortunately, I don’t think you have enough time to do that before the election is over.
Daniel: Clever. That’s one thing I can’t take away from you Malone. You are clever. You’ve got a great act going here. You almost have me fooled sometimes. But I’ll get you. I’m always watching and listening. I’ll catch you when you least expect it. And when I do, I’ll crush you.
Walter: Good luck.
Daniel is very amused by Walter’s sudden behavior. For the first time it seems that Walter actually has a spine. It intrigues Daniel. Finally this “game” has become interesting to him. He doesn’t mind a challenge at all because it only makes the win that much sweeter.
4. DANIEL EVANS OFFICE HEADQUARTERS
Carter and Lauren have been busy strategizing how best to deal with this story outbreak. The entire thing has blown up immensely in such a short amount of time that they have to put a lid on it before it’s too late.
Lauren: I can’t believe Daniel was stupid enough to let this happen. He should have been more careful.
Carter: You know just as well I do that Daniel doesn’t always think about what he does. He thinks he can do whatever and go unnoticed.
Lauren: Well this time it bit him in the ass. Getting him out of this one isn’t going to be so easy. We are going to have to get our hands dirty here just like he said.
Carter: What do you mean?
Lauren: Unfortunately the only way to get out of this is to use the girl. We have to paint a different picture of her from the media. Right now half of the media is doctoring her up to be the innocent girl within this. We have to turn it around so that they all think she’s the seductress. That she planned for this to happen.
Carter: Do you really think that’s necessary?
Lauren: It’s our only option to keep him alive in this race. The public will buy that. If we can get people to look at her as some kind of con-artist who purposely tried to destroy him then we’re golden. We’ve seen this happen all the time.
Carter: But what about her? This would totally destroy her life.
Lauren: Yeah but we aren’t get paid to save her life are we? We’re here to protect Daniel. I’ll be damned if we lose this because of some young girl?
Carter: We?
Lauren: Oh come on Carter! You’ve been working on this just as much as I have. Daniel getting the ticket means we get to ride right along with him. We get to be part of it. We get to rise up the ladder right along with him. Isn’t that why you’re doing this too? I’m gonna make some calls and see if we can set up a press conference this evening for the five o’clock news. You get Daniel on the phone and tell him to get back here immediately. We need to get all our stories straight before we face the press.
Lauren gathers up her notes and leaves the office to place a call. Carter isn’t quite sure how to take in everything she said. For the first time he is thinking about what his actions may have done. He never fully thought out how this really was going to affect Paloma. It’s never been his agenda to watch innocent people get hurt. He’s just been so caught up in his hatred for Daniel that he saw nothing else. Carter takes out his phone and calls Joe.
Joe: Hello.
Carter: Hey, it’s me. You busy?
Joe: Uh, no. I’m just setting up the studio for a shoot I have coming in. What’s going on?
Carter: You were right. I didn’t think about fully what I was doing. I didn’t really think about the harm this was going to do to that girl. I was just so clouded with my own thoughts.
Joe: What happened?
Carter: They are planning on spinning this whole story so this Paloma girl ends up taking the fall for it. It’s really the only way for them to turn this around. I just feel guilty.
Joe: Carter, you knew this was going to happen. I warned you about this before you went through with it. Now you’ve done the damage. You have to just deal with it.
Carter: I know. I just wish there was something I could do. It’ll be okay though. I’ll figure this out.
Joe: You sure?
Carter: Yeah, I’ll be fine. I’ll see you later at home.
5. CHANNING INDUSTRIES, WILLIAM’S OFFICE
William: Do you really know what you’re doing Olivia? Think about it. It’s fine if you want your revenge on the three of us. Go right on ahead. But think about the other lives that you’re going to disrupt with this. Is it really worth all that to feed your own anger?
Olivia: Do not try to turn this around on me. I am not to blame for this. I am not the one responsible here. Besides, William you don’t even know fully what I’m talking about.
James: He’s right Olivia. Take whatever you want from us.
Olivia: What I want from you all none of you can give me. When I left I immediately started having my suspicions about what really happened. It just all didn’t sit right with me. So I went and did some digging of my own. But I knew that I needed to somehow have an inside eye. That surely couldn’t be me. I knew that you all would slip and reveal yourselves if I just waited. So I called in a favor to a dear friend of mine that I could trust. Oh Gregory! You can come in!
Gregory Lincoln enters the office upon hearing the cue from Olivia. James, Rebecca, and William are very unsure of what exactly he’s doing here. Gregory has been a friend of the family for quite some time. He’s helped them out on more than one occasion. He’s been one of their right hand men.
Rebecca: Gregory?
William: Olivia what is this all about?
Olivia: Well this is Gregory as you all know. He’s a dear of mine. He’s been my eyes and ears here the entire time. I’ve learned practically everything I needed from each of you from him. I instructed him step by step on how to earn all of your trust to the point that you’d start spilling your deepest and darkest secrets. None of you are very good at keeping things to yourselves. I suppose the guilt sometimes is too much to hold to yourself.
Rebecca: She’s lying. Gregory?
Gregory: Olivia and I have been very close friends for many years. Her father was very kind to me. I looked up to him. He taught me many things. Naturally the second Olivia called me for my help I obliged. I’m glad I did. You all are evil for what you did.
Rebecca: This isn’t happening.
Rebecca turns away from the group in a panic. Olivia sees a change in mood in Rebecca and smiles. Rebecca knows the very secret she shared with only Gregory. If what Olivia says is true then she knows the complete truth.
William: Rebecca, are you alright?
Olivia: Oh she’s fine. She just knows now what’s coming. I know William that the only reason you married me was for my money. Maybe somewhere in your heart you did love me but you loved the money more. I understand that. I’d been surrounded by men just like you my entire life. So I get it. What I don’t get is how you could read me the riot act for having an affair when all along you were secretly seeing Rebecca. I guess I was so blind by my own affair that I couldn’t see that you were doing the exact same thing. It wasn’t until after I even left I found out about her. I wanted to hate you Rebecca but I couldn’t at first. I couldn’t blame you for simply seeing my husband. I would just be a hypocrite. But then once I learned what you did personally it became very easy to hate you. As well as you James.
William: Enough! Stop beating around the bush here Olivia! Do you have something to say or not?!
Olivia: Fine! I know that the only reason you wanted a baby with me is because of the money my father left for you. In the clause it stated that the money would only be available upon the birth our first child. That’s the only reason you wanted a baby with me. That’s the only reason you were so eager for me to get pregnant.
William: Yeah you got pregnant and then fell into your affair.
Olivia: I didn’t know I was pregnant when the affair started!
William: So you’ve said.
Olivia: It’s true! But that’s not the point. That night at the hospital did not go how we all think it did. We only remember it how Rebecca and James want us to remember it.
Mason is sitting at a table in the shop having a cup of coffee. His phone starts to ring again and he sees that it’s Kendall. He’s been ignoring all of her calls and texts while he tries to figure out what to do. He hits silent. Sarah returns to check up on Mason.

6. DANIEL EVANS OFFICE HEADQUARTERS
Daniel enters the building and greets the receptionist at the front.
Receptionist: There’s someone in your office that was urgent to speak with you. I told her that you might be a while but she was insistent on staying until you arrived.
Daniel: I’ll take care of it.
Daniel heads down the hallway to his office. He enters his office to see a woman standing. It’s Carla.
Daniel: Excuse me, can I help you?
Carla: Daniel Evans?
Daniel: That would be me. You are?
Carla: I’m Carla Herrera. I’m the mother of Paloma Herrera. You might have heard of her.
Daniel: I see.
Daniel quickly closes the door behind him as he predicts where this conversation may go. He assesses the situation quickly and takes a seat at his desk.
Daniel: How can I help you?
Carla: Surely you’re aware of the stories that have been printed and reported about my daughter with you.
Daniel: That I am.
Carla: And surely you know how fabricated they are. My daughter is innocent.
Daniel: Is she?
Carla: Excuse me? Several reports are painting my daughter out to be a blackmailer. An opportunist. Some have even questioned whether she has some connection to the Walter Malone party. This is all untrue. My daughter is taking the fall for something that just went terribly wrong. She should have never been there that night. I fully understand that and accept the responsibility of that.
Daniel: As well as you should.
Carla: I don’t think you’re hearing me out.
Daniel: I think I hear you quite well. You’re telling me that because of your bad parenting that you couldn’t keep a lid on your own child. That you failed your daughter which caused her to run wild. What other reason would there be for an underage girl to be in such a place and take drinks from other men. I understand the guilt you feel.
Carla: That is not what I said.
Daniel: The truth sometimes hurt. I get it. Unfortunately your daughter chose the wrong bar and the wrong man that night. Or perhaps the right one.
Carla: Mr. Evans-
Daniel: Maybe you don’t know your daughter as well as you think you do. I think she knew exactly what she was doing.
Carla: I am not going to let my daughter go down for this and let you paint this image of her. She is a hard-working girl with a very promising future. I am not going to let you take that from her.
Daniel: I’m afraid she did that to herself. Now if there’s nothing else you need.
Daniel points his finger in the direction of the door. This did not go as Carla planned. She thought she could talk some sense into Daniel and he would see the wrong that’s being done. Clearly she was wrong. She grabs her purse in frustration and leaves.
Daniel enters the building and greets the receptionist at the front.
Receptionist: There’s someone in your office that was urgent to speak with you. I told her that you might be a while but she was insistent on staying until you arrived.

7. THE CONTINENTAL APARTMENT BUILDING, 885 6TH AVE., KENDALL AND AMY-BETH’S APARTMENT
Amy-Beth: I can’t believe all of that happened. Why didn’t you tell me?
Kendall: I really just didn’t know what to think or do. I just kept thinking about Kyle holding this over my head and what he was going to do. I was just worried about Mason and how he was going to react. I kept thinking maybe there was something I could do. It just was all too much.
Amy-Beth: And you haven’t spoken to Mason since that night?
Kendall: He hasn’t responded to any of my texts or calls. I don’t blame him of course. I just wish I could talk to him. Let him know how sorry I am.
Amy-Beth: I’m sure he’ll come around. He just needs some time to sort it all out between this and also his brother. That Kyle. He’s always trouble.
A knock at the door breaks their conversation. Amy-Beth gets up from the couch to answer the door. She opens the door and it’s Mason.
Amy-Beth: Mason. Hi.
Mason: Hi. Is Kendall here?
Amy-Beth: Um, yeah. I was actually just leaving to…. go run an errand. Come on in.
Amy-Beth lets Mason into the apartment and leaves to give them some privacy. Kendall comes forward from the couch to meet Mason. She’s surprised that he’s come over so soon. She thought it’d take longer for him to speak with her.
Kendall: I wasn’t expecting you.
Mason: I know. To be honest I wasn’t really sure about this. I turned back three times before I finally made it here.
Kendall: How are you?
Mason: I’m doing alright I suppose. As best I can. You?
Kendall: I don’t even know.
Mason: I’ll be honest; I’m not even sure what I wanted to say or what I should say. I just felt that the time had come for us to talk. Talk about what I don’t know. It’s just been a rough couple of days.
Kendall: I understand. Mason, you have to know how sorry I am. I never meant to hurt you. I wish I could take it all back and change what happened. But I can’t.
Mason: I know. I just don’t know where to go from here. I’ve been trying to wrap this all around my head. I just feel so fooled and betrayed by both you and my brother. I keep placing my anger back and forth between you both.
Kendall: I understand.
Mason: There’s just one thing I need to know. What would have happened if Kyle never found out? If he never threatened you with this would you have ever told me? Or would you have kept this to yourself the entire time?
Kendall is completely caught off-guard with this question. She had never even thought about that prospect. It never crossed her mind because until the threat she had erased the whole incident.

8. THE MALONE HOUSE
The doorbell rings at the Malone household. Ivy, the only one home, answers the door. Standing in the doorway is Scott Peters, William Channing’s assistant. It takes a brief moment for Ivy to recognize Scott as it’s highly unusual for him to be at her house.
Ivy: You’re Scott, right? Scott Peters? You work for William Channing?
Scott: Yes. Sorry. Would your husband be home at the moment?
Ivy: No, he’s at the office for the day. Is this business from William?
Scott: Not exactly. Actually, not at all.
Ivy: I don’t think I follow you.
Scott: May I come in? It’ll only take a second.
Ivy: Sure, I suppose.
Ivy allows Scott into the house. It’s a very awkward exchange between them. Ivy and Scott have never shared more than three words with one another before. She knows Scott works for William, who’s a family friend, but that’s about all.
Ivy: Is there something I can help you with Scott?
Scott: That all depends on you.
Ivy: I don’t understand.
Scott: What if I told you I knew something that could be very beneficial to you and your husband?
Ivy: Like what?
Scott: More information beyond this underage drinking scandal that Daniel Evans is involved in. Information that could further bury his campaign.
Ivy is instantly intrigued by what Scott is saying.
Ivy: You have my attention.
Scott: Being around the Channing mansion you find out a lot things. Secrets.
Ivy: I don’t get it. What does this have to do with the Channings? I thought we were talking about Daniel Evans.
Scott: Not Channings. Just one.
Ivy: Alright, spill.
Scott: It’s not that easy.
Ivy: Pardon me?
Scott: I am willing to give you this information but it’s going to be for a price.
Ivy: Are you serious?
Scott: Dead serious. I’m telling you that what I know right now could seriously put the next nail in the coffin for Daniel. But I’m not willing to give it away freely.
Ivy is very taken back by how forward Scott is but it only makes her more intrigued. It must be something really good, right? For Scott to approach her this way it must. Ivy starts to think about her husband Walter. He would never involve himself in this. To Walter this would be playing unfair and playing dirty. It’s not the kind of campaign he would want. Ivy on the other hand feels that sometimes you have to do what you have to do to get what you want. If it means getting blood on your hands to do the right thing in the end, then so be it.
Ivy: You’ve got a deal. Spill and then we’ll discuss the details after.
Scott: James Channing and Victoria are having an affair. It’s been going on for months behind Daniel’s back. She’s been secretly taking off for months to go see him but now James is back in New York and it’s not just for a quick visit. Victoria plans to leave her husband for James. Now can we discuss the details?
9. CHANNING INDUSTRIES
Olivia: That night at the hospital did not go how we all think it did. We only remember it how Rebecca wants us to remember it.
Rebecca: Olivia shut up!
Olivia: Oh! Someone’s scared.
Rebecca: I mean it Olivia!
William: Rebecca, what is she talking about?
James: Olivia stop!
William: What is going on here? Is there something I don’t know?
Olivia: They’ve both been keeping a secret from you. You see William, there’s just one piece of the puzzle that you weren’t included in. They intervened that night and took care of a matter that you weren’t aware of.
James: Olivia!
Olivia: It’s too late James!
James: William, I am so sorry. I wasn’t thinking. You know I was a very different person back then. You know what it was like.
William: What are you talking about?
Gregory: Let Olivia finish.
James: I only did what I thought you wanted and what I thought was best.
Rebecca: I’ve got to get out of here.
Rebecca starts to head for the door but Olivia cuts her off.
Olivia: Where the hell do you think you’re going?! You’re not going anywhere until I expose you for the lying, vicious, manipulating little bitch that you are! William, you know that night that the baby and I both had complications with the delivery that night.
William: Yes. They had to take the baby to the I.C.U.
Olivia: The baby that left me that night to go to the I.C.U. is not the same baby that returned to my arms.
William: What? What are you saying?
Olivia: Our baby died that night in the hospital. He died an hour later. Rebecca and James were at the hospital that night.
Rebecca: I’m not doing this!
William: Stay! I want to hear what she has to say.
Rebecca stands completely frozen between William and Olivia. Olivia continues now that she has everyone’s attention.
Olivia: Rebecca and James switched out babies that night. They snuck in and changed the charts. They knew our baby wasn’t going to make it and therefore knew that it would have made your entire scheme blow up in all of your faces. To make sure that everything went according to plan they gave me someone else’s child.
William: No. I don’t believe you. That’s not true. You’re lying! You’re lying!
Gregory: She wouldn’t lie about this William.
Olivia: I wish I was.
William: Why would you lie?
William looks at both James and Rebecca. Neither of them are moving or responding. Even though William betrayed Olivia, she still in her heart has love for him and feels sorry for him in this very moment.
William: Is this true?
Neither James nor Rebecca responds.
William: It can’t be. That means-
Olivia: Kyle isn’t your son William. Kyle isn’t a Channing.
